Eimear Arkins is an award winning singer and fiddle player from County Clare, holds no less than 11 All-Ireland titles across a variety of competition categories and has toured extensively throughout Europe, Canada, and North America with a number of bands, including Cherish the Ladies. In 2015, both Eimear and Eileen represented Ireland at World Expo in Milan, Italy.

Conor Arkins is an accomplished piano, fiddle, flute, and saxophone player. He is a member if the National Folk Orchestra of Ireland and recently completed a tour of Ireland and Great Britain with the orchestra’s production of Macalla 1916. Conor has also toured Europe and the US and in 2015 accompanied the President of Ireland at the World Expo in Milan.

Eileen Gannon, a St. Louis native, is one of the top Irish harp players in the world. She has won numerous accolades, including the highly coveted Senior Harp title at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. Eileen has toured and performed all over the world and is a regular tutor at international festivals like the Catskills Irish Arts Week.

Here is Eimear Arkins​, who was a graduate student in journalism and law, was Mizzou​’ss only international student from Ireland. She travels the globe as a cultural ambassador, performing traditional Irish music. Her talents have earned 10 world-championship titles, the first of which she won at age 9. On a foggy Columbia morning, she plays the viola and sings the traditional song “Flower Of Magherally.”

Salon Concerts Chicago presents Trian, featuring Liz Carroll on fiddle, Billy McComiskey on button accordion and Dáithí Sproule on guitar and vocals on Thursday, April 20 at 8pm in the Fifth Province.

Three of Celtic music’s most acclaimed and award-winning musicians; Carroll, McComiskey and Sproule perform as Trian, a band originally formed in the 1980s. While tied to traditional music, the trio uses exquisite musicianship to take the traditions a step further.

Carroll’s playful and expressive fiddling, along with her massive original repertoire, have made her a worldwide legend. She is a 1994 recipient of this country’s highest honor in folk and traditional arts; the National Heritage Fellowship.

Also a National Heritage Fellowship recipient (2016), McComiskey is revered as player and composer and is credited with raising the profile and stature of the button accordion.

Sproule is one of Irish music’s most respected guitar accompanists and singers in English and Irish, and one of the first guitarists to develop DADGAD tuning for Irish music.

Trian, featuring Liz Carroll, Billy McComiskey and Dáithí Sproule is Thursday, April 20 at 8pm in the Fifth Province. The Academy of Irish Music Performing Group will be the opening act.
