Salon Concerts announcement: Moya Brennan and Cormac de Barra! August 17th! #irishmusic

Salon Concerts Chicago presents Moya Brennan and Cormac de Barra in the Fifth Province on Thursday, August 17 at 8pm.

Grammy award winner Moya Brennan is the lead singer of Clannad and has enjoyed a successful solo career. She has sung on most of the world’s great stages and has collaborated with such artists as The Chieftains, Paul Brady and Bono. She is also part of the all-female traditional group, T with the Maggies.

Cormac de Barra is renowned internationally as a versatile harp virtuoso. He continually pushes the boundaries of the Irish harp through his work with a wide array of artists, including Hazel O’Connor, Julie Feeney and Clannad. He also tours and records with his brothers Fionán and Éamonn in the family group, Barcó.

Moya Brennan and Cormac de Barra both come from large musical families in Ireland and their mutual admiration for each other developed into a stimulating musical relationship. They combine the simplicity, depth and beauty of the extraordinary skills which make them unique in their field.

The Academy of Irish Music Performing Group will be the opening act.

The Salon Concerts series is dedicated to providing its audience with opportunities to listen to high-quality Irish music performed by talented musicians in an intimate and friendly concert setting.
