The online ticket link is coming soon!
Born in Meath and raised in Dublin, Keenan comes from a musical family of settled traveling people. He grew up playing the uilleann pipes and was a founding member of the legendary Bothy Band. He has enjoyed a successful solo career touring the world and recording several important piping CDs along the way.
His recording credits include all three of the Bothy Band’s studio album, and four successful solo or duet recordings. Since the Bothy Band broke up in 1979, he has recorded with concertina ace Noel Hill, fiddling maestros Tommy Peoples and Paddy Glackin, and singer/songwriter Tommy O’Sullivan, among many others.
He has influenced at least two generations of uilleann pipers, including Davy Spillane, John McSherry, Cillian Vallely, Michael O’Connell, and a number of others. Keenan’s style contains technical brilliance, fiery expression, humor and great invention.
Patrick and Karen Cannady on uilleann pipes and fiddle will be guest musicians at the performance. They will be joined by Donald Terao. Musicians from the Acaemy of Irish Music will open the concert.
The Paddy Keenan Salon Concert is Saturday, May 14 at 8pm in Room 109. Tickets are $20 for adults and children 18 and under are free. To purchase tickets, call 773-282-7035, ext. 10 or buy at the door. (Online ticketing available soon, watch this space!)
