Liz is rightly considered one of the world’s most important musical artists, honored for her compositions, her fiery musical performances, as well as her recordings. She is pleased to be joined in this concert by the multi-instrumentalist Jake Charron, on guitar and keyboards.

“Dazzling…her inventiveness and creativity are astonishing. And her playing is impeccably clean, intense, and altogether brilliant.” Sing Out

Liz Carroll was born in Chicago of Irish parents. She’s a junior and senior All-Ireland Fiddle Champion, and has toured as a solo artist and with the Greenfields of America, Trian, String Sisters, and as part of the duo Liz Carroll & John Doyle. She’s featured on eleven albums and has appeared on many more, and in 2009 she became the first Irish-American musician nominated for a Grammy. In addition, Liz is a recipient of the National Heritage Fellowship Award, which was bestowed by Hillary Clinton. 2010 brought the publication of Liz’s first book of compositions, “Collected.” It’s a compilation of Liz’s musical past, as well as a promise for the future – a past and future honored in 2011 with Ireland’s most revered traditional music prize, the Cumadóir TG4 (Composer of the Year!).

Liz’s most recent album, 2013’s “On the Offbeat,” has been strongly praised by critics. Siobhan Long of The Irish Times called it a “magnificent collection” and gave it her highest five star rating. Devon Leger of the web site The Bluegrass Situation exclaimed in her hands, the tunes sparkle with life, winding and wending around the most unexpected and surprising corners. This is the kind of album only a true master can make.

Liz is joined by multi-instrumentalist Jake Charron. Whether on keyboards or guitar, Jake has been in high demand as a touring and recording musician, collaborating with award-winning artists around the world, including with Liz, Troy MacGillivray, Shane Cook, and a newly formed trio from Eastern Canada, The East Pointers. This past year, he released a duo album with Shane Cook, entitled “Head to Head,” and a self-titled album with The East Pointers, which has been nominated for a 2015 East Coast Music Award.

Liz Carroll is pleased to be performing at the Irish-American Heritage Center, where she has performed many times, including the album release concert for Lost in the Loop, Liz’s now classic 2000 album. Salon Concert Chicago is excited to have Liz Carroll and Jake Charron perform as part of their successful series of Salon Concerts, with this concert the eleventh in the series so far!

This concert promises to be musically thrilling – don’t miss Liz Carroll with Jake Charron!
